Three player support apparently was programmed into the port at one point and pulled at the last minute, since a review of the PlayStation version in Electronic Gaming Monthly describes three player gameplay. Though it was announced that the PlayStation version would also support three players, both the PlayStation and Saturn versions allow only two players. The arcade version supports up to three players simultaneously. The game will not end until every Scumlabs city has been destroyed, which may cause some erratic traveling around towards the end of the game (including multiple world tour trips if the players have missed or purposely kept from getting world tour flags). Purple radioactive waste temporarily transforms the player into a super monster known as V.E.R.N. After getting a World Tour power-up, the next few levels take place in a foreign location until a Scumlabs plant is destroyed. Players may also choose to eat or ignore the "World Tour" power-ups and control which country they can visit. Destroying the billboard when it is showing one of these regions will send the player in that direction. In the first level, Peoria, a tourism billboard cycles through different regions in the country (Northeast, Southwest, etc.). If the player takes too long in destroying the city, jets will fly in and bomb the remaining buildings, ending the stage with a lower score. Like in the first Rampage game, the goal of every stage is to destroy all the buildings in each city while avoiding or destroying the military forces. "Rampage" is super sized fun.The player's goal is to destroy buildings as pictured here in the arcade version, George is smashing a building as a tank approaches. So for anyone seeking vintage video game classics or even a fan of Super Sized Monster movies this game packs a punch for you.
Though whatever you do don't touch anything electrical or even eat the tollet that will drain your health let alone really disgusting. For the soilders you eat them as well as regular citizens and sometimes a piece of meet to keep your life bar up. You get to destroy and swat at hellecopters, bombers, and smash tanks which are a real nucence in that game as they pack a wallop. You can punch at the middle to destroy most of the midsection and side of a building, though punching the bottom of the foundation diagonally down will gurentee a faster collapse. You have this tremendous freedom to simply destroy the buildings anyway you want which I really like. I like the designs of each of the cities all of there are unique and each is always a different chalange. , you just simply go from city to city and destroy everything in your path, that's it it wasn't called "Rampage" for nothing. There really isn't much to it this is the kind of game where you simply turn your brain off and have fun and theirs nothing wrong with that. Though you can also fight each other if you want, though it would drain your health so only do it if all three of you know what your getting into. You can play yourself but it's even more fun playing with two other people which increases the amount of destruction and fun. I like the designs of all three charcters whom are all unique, Ralph a giant Werewolf, Lizzie a giant Lizard, and George a giant ape both Lizzie and George obviously homages to "Godzilla" and "King Kong".
This game was a real treat to fans of that sub genre and just anyone that feels the need to destroy things or simply playing as the monster for once. Super sized monster movies has always been one of my favorate sub genres in horror I love the "Godzilla" films, "Tremors", "Them", "Kong: Skull Island", "Q the Winged Serpant" etc. This is another childhood gem of mine and is one of my honorable mentions in favorate video games. Once all buildings in a city have been destroyed, the monsters move onto another city.
Health is replenished by eating food found in the buildings. Health is decreased by being shot by National Guardsmen, being hit by another monster, falling, being hit by cops or tanks, going underwater, being struck by lightning, or by eating something bad, like dynamite. Health is awarded at startup and during the game by putting quarters in. The players move from city to city destroying skyscrapers and various vehicles and eating people that get in the way. The game has 768 days of destruction and some of them are alike. The mutants' goal is to destroy every city which they come upon. George was mutated after swallowing mega-vitamins, Lizzie was mutated after bathing in a radioactive lake, and Ralph was mutated after eating sausage scam. The characters you play were once ordinary people until they were mutated into the game's monsters: George, the giant ape Lizzie, the giant lizard and Ralph, the giant wolf.
